Design For

Grade 9+

Math courses are level-based, not grade-based. For example, a very smart student can take any course as long as the prerequisites are met!

*Prerequisite

Pass algebra 2 with a grade of C- or better.

 Ruth L.

Mathemagician

I’m not your ordinary middle school or high school math teacher. I’m a “mathemagician.” I can transform your students from hating math to loving it.
I surprise my students, using my juggling, sewing, and knitting skills to explain challenging math concepts, such as graphing, proportions, and patterns. Math is not hard when you apply it to real-world situations.
As a high school math teacher for 25 years, I’ve taught all levels from algebra to AP calculus.
I’m a “master teacher,” who trains college student teacher interns.
I speak five dialects, read and write Chinese, and have a passion for global travel. For 13 consecutive years, I’ve led a highly successful global travel program, taking students to China, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, and Switzerland. I created a mentorship program for retired professionals to tutor and mentor at-risk students, consistently bringing grades from D’s and F’s to A’s and B’s. My students often come from at-risk, low-income families yet have gone on to study at Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Georgetown University to name a few.
