Overview

Using drag and drop style block coding, students will be given step-by-step instruction to create their own beginner-level racing game. From creating backgrounds to animated icons, students will see their first game come to life. Diving into the bright and cute interface of the block-coding world, students will gain programming concepts and problem-solving skills.

*What is Scratch? Scratch is a collaboration between the DevTech Research Group at Tufts University, the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, and the Playful Invention Company. Scratch has been used worldwide, and more and more schools implement Scratch in creative learning. Scratch Jr, inspired by Scratch, is specifically developed for young children (age 5-7) to create games and stories with graphical programming blocks.

• Plan individual games step by step: setting, quest, level, characters, sound

• Learn about the coding blocks and how they work

• Sequence the blocks to create their games
